Central Ohio’s Premier Equine Educational Resource

Field of Dreams Equine Education Center is a unique horseback riding facility located on the east side of Columbus, Ohio. Education and safety are our founding principles. Whether you are a nervous beginner or an advanced rider, we have a horse experience for you!

Field of Dreams offers classes designed to educate riders about safety around and the care of horses, provides riding lessons in both hunt seat and western pleasure disciplines, and provides summer camps. Our sister center, Dreams on Horseback, provides therapeutic riding programs for clients with cognitive, physical, and behavioral challenges.

We are very proud of our family-friendly, welcoming facility and love sharing our barn full of amazingly diverse horses. We hope you will find the time to stop by, visit our farm, and see for yourself why so many families and organizations choose to follow their horse dreams at Field of Dreams!

Please note: We do not offer one-time rides. Riders register for weekly lesson packages only.

Riding Lessons

Riding lessons are tailored specifically for each rider to advance their equestrian skills. Instructors and students work together to accomplish individualized riding goals which may include English hunt seat, western pleasure, or trail riding. Our horseback riding lessons are held throughout the year in our lighted indoor and outdoor arenas or riding through a wooded paradise of more than 60 acres of riding trails. No matter what time of year, we look forward to helping you meet your goals.

In order to ensure the safety of our riders and to protect the health of our horses, we have a weight limit of 200 pounds.

Private one hour orientation lesson — $80

Semi-private one hour lesson — $60
($240/4 week session)

Summer Camp

A 5-day horse camp experience tailored to the student’s age and interests. Each student is assigned their own horse for the week. Students enjoy horse riding instruction, art, games, and horse handling.

Each day campers enjoy saddle time in the riding arena or through the most spectacular woods in Columbus. Hands on education is provided each day during “Barn Talk” sessions. Campers show off their new riding skills on Friday afternoon during the end of camp “horse show”. Ages 7-14.

In order to ensure the safety of our riders and to protect the health of our horses, we have a weight limit of 200 pounds.

About Field of Dreams

From Dreams to Reality: Our History

Jennifer Hansen was one of those kids who always wanted a horse but couldn’t afford one. After finally getting her first horse, Daisy, after graduating from law school, Jennifer had the dream of sharing her horse with as many kids as possible, kids who otherwise would never know what it felt like to ride such a magnificent animal.

Dreams became reality in 2002 when Jennifer founded “Dreams on Horseback,” a non-profit organization with a mission to provide therapeutic horse programs. David and Jennifer bought a farm they named “Field of Dreams” to offer quality traditional riding programs in addition to serving as a home to the non-profit Dreams on Horseback.

Dreams on Horseback Indoor Equine Center

A Growing Dream: New Facilities

An indoor equine center was constructed in 2007 to support the growing participation in both Field of Dreams and Dreams on Horseback programs and to accommodate riders during inclement weather. By 2015, both organizations had grown to such a degree that Field of Dreams opened a second equine center located in the nearby Stepping Stone neighborhood allowing Dreams on Horseback to assume full operation of the Hansen farm.

Field of Dreams at Stepping Stone Stables boasts 17 horse stalls, 75x150 indoor and outdoor riding arenas, a heated tack room, heated and cooled observation area, and beautiful wooded trails.

Meet Our Horses

Cactus Jack Horse

Cactus Jack

CJ has been with us from almost the beginning and is leased to Field of Dreams from executive director, Jennifer Hansen. He is a quarter horse/paint and is a barn favorite. CJ is a sweet, loveable, cuddly guy who loves following kids around like a puppy dog. He is a talented therapy horse, especially with kids who struggle to verbalize their feelings.

Beau Horse

Beau

Beau is a handsome fella that adds a little bit of diversity to our herd with his Appaloosa heritage and his fun dun color complete with dorsal stripe and leg striping. He has an extensive background in 4H horse showing and is an asset not only to our lesson program but also to our show team.

Chevy Horse

Chevy

Chevy is a beautiful Quarter Horse palomino gelding. He is leased from the Brex Family and we are so grateful to have him as a part of our program. He excels in our lesson program as well as our show team and has also participated in therapeutic lessons and competed at the statewide Special Olympics competition.

Smoothie Horse

Smoothie

A handsome paint gelding who served as a 4H show horse in his past. He had the same owner from when he was 2 until he was donated to Dreams in 2016. His versatility makes him useful in all aspects.
